Peer Dean Association

What is the Peer Dean Dssociation?

The Xavier University Peer Dean Association is a group of student-leaders, who serve in many capacities throughout the academic year. A major responsibility of Peer Dean Association members is to serve as Peer Deans (orientation leaders) during the New Student Orientation.  However, Peer Deans are actively involved in the planning and execution of monthly transition activities throughout the year. Through these activities, Peer Deans support the positive and successful transition of all first-year Xavierites (Freshmen, Transfer, Resident and Commuter). Peer Deans use their caring, intuitive, loving, energetic, enthusiastic, and friendly personalities to ensure that each student makes the best possible transition.

The Peer Dean Planning Committee (PDPC) serves as the Executive Council for the Peer Dean Association. As members of PDPC, student-leaders receive the opportunity to expand their leadership capabilities by working directly with full-time staff to plan and implement an effective and fun-filled orientation program.

Besides aiding the first-year students, Peer Deans gain valuable experience in leadership, service, accountability, communication, team building, and problem-solving.  These student-leaders reinforce their leadership training with their participation in the Peer Dean Association. Additionally, Peer Deans are challenged to contribute to the elevation and progression of the University by taking on other leadership roles such as class officers, Student Government Association officers, Xavier Activities Board executive board, and more.
