One Time Service Opportunities

One time service opportunities are for volunteers with rigid schedules and who cannot commit to our weekly, M.A.X. programs. These programs are expressed by a community partner that allows students to engage in service, explore the New Orleans Community, and receive instant, tangible results.

UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball

The UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball is one of New Orleans' signature fundraising galas and premier social events of the year. Hosted by a diverse group of corporate sponsors and individuals, it involves celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, public officials, alumni, volunteers, and others who support UNCF's mission of investing in America's future by getting students to and through college. This year's UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball will be held on March 18, 2017. Volunteer sign ups will be available on OrgSync.

Fall 2016 One Time Service Opportunities



National African American Wellness Walk

The National African American Wellness Walk aims to increase health and education among the African American community here in New Orleans. Held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Joe W. Brown Park.
Volunteers are needed to help register participants for the walk, help with health screenings, assisting vendors, and with set up.

Adopt-A-Family/Thanksgiving Drive Competition

The Thanksgiving Drive Competition is part of the Center for Student Leadership and Service Adopt- A- Family program. All items collected and donated through the Thanksgiving Drive Competition will be made to create Thanksgiving Baskets for families in the Gert Town community and Greater New Orleans. The competition is usually omangst student organizations but anyone can participate, the duration of the competition is October 4th through November 4th.


UNCF Walk for Education

The 29th UNCF New Orleans Walk for Education provides scholarship support to students from low-income families, giving them the opportunity to earn a college degree. The walk is set to take place Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Audubon Park Riverview.


Ghost in the Oaks

Ghost in the Oaks is a two-night Halloween fundraising event hosted by the Friends of City Park that offers non-scary fun for the whole family, including unlimited rides in Carousel Gardens, trick-or-treating in Storyland, arts and crafts, a pumpkin patch, airbrush tattoos, balloon animals, music and more! Boo At the Zoo

An Annual event hosted by Children Hospital at Audubon Zoo. It is a safe, fun-filled Halloween event for children up to age 12. Xavier volunteers will help with featured aspects of the event such as trick-or-treat houses with candy, Ghost Train, a haunted house, games and more. Sign Up Now!
