BUILD Speaker Series
THe BUILD Project Pathways Speaker Series continues Monday, Oct. 08, with a presentation by Antoinette Bell '15, a second year Ph.D.  Biomedical Sciences student at the Tulane Univerity School of Medicine, at 12 noon in UC Room 205C. All students are welcome. Visit HERE  for more info.


Founder's Day Convocation
The annual Founder's Day Convocation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 09, at 12:15 p.m. in the Convocation Center. Keynote speaker will be Louisiana State Senator Troy Carter, Sr. '86. All faculty, staff, and students should attend. Note that daily Mass on Tuesday will be celebrated at 8:00 a.m. rather than noon due to the Convocation.


UNCF Walk/Run for Education
The Annual UNCF Walk/Fund for Education will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, at 8:30 a.m. at the Audubon Park Riverview. The Xavier community and all friends of Xavier are encouraged to participate. All funds go to support Xavier and Dillard Universities. To register visit HERE  or call 520-7575.

HBCU Campus Queens Contest – Vote for Miss Xavier!
Ebony magazine’s annual online HBCU Campus Queens competition is underway … time is now to vote for Xavier’s own Kelsey Green! The Top Ten vote getters will be crowned and featured in the pages of EBONY magazine and at To support Miss Xavier click HERE. You are allowed to vote as many times as you’d like until the Dec. 31 midnight deadline.


Breast Cancer Awareness / Pink Day
Campus Recreation and the College of Pharmacy is hosting a series of Breast Cancer Awareness events this month. Next up: a line dance class Monday, Oct. 08, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fitness Center. The Xavier community is invited to the Division of Business' monthly chat with an entrepreneur, "Lunch with a 'Trep", featuring Kay Charbonnet, the owner and designer of Kay's Boutique & KMC Design Studios Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the UC Gallery (first floor). Undergraduate Yearbook Photos
Photographers will be available to take Senior Cap & Gown portraits Thursday, Oct. 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the UC First Floor Gallery. Undergraduate student portraits will be taken Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Xavier South 109. 


GRE Prep Workshop
The deadline to register for Session II of CURGO's four-week GRE Prep Workshop is Friday, Oct. 12. Visit the CURGO office, St. Joseph's Room 306, to sign up. Cost is $150 for students.

Staff/Faculty Morning of Prayer
A Staff/Faculty Morning of Prayer will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, at 10:00 a.m. in the SKD Chapel. Dr. Richard Peters, Rebecca Sanchez, and Sister Mary Ann Stachow will speak on the theme “Holiness in a Secular World.” Persons of all faiths or no faith are invited to attend. Staff have been able to attend this event without loss of work time. Take a little time out this semester and give it to the Lord.

Faculty Grant Funding Workshops
The Office of Institutional Advancement continues its series of workshops designed to help faculty secure funding for research and departmental programs with "Make Data Meaningful" presented by William Faulkner, Director of FLUX Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Steve Mumford, Assistant Professor of Public Administration at UNO, Thursday, Oct. 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Library Resource Center's Mellon Conference Room (5th Floor). Wellness Awareness Week will celebrate its 29th anniversary Monday-Friday, Oct. 22- 26. Highlight events include the popular Walk-A-Mile with President Verret (Wednesday, Oct. 24) at 5:00 p.m. on the UC Yard; the Health Blitz "Under the Green Top" (same day) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the UC 1st floor; and a Candlelight Vigil for Survivors, Loved Ones, or Supporters of Survivors of Cancer (Monday, Oct. 22) from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on the UC Yard.

A second-year medical student from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University will be in the NCF Science Annex (1st floor) Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Stop by to learn more about the medical school, possible opportunities for undergraduates, and general insight on being a medical student at Brown.

LSU-Shreveport Medical School Recruitment
Representatives from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport will be in the NCF Science Annex (1st floor) Thursday, Oct. 11, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Stop by to learn more about the medical school and summer opportunities for undergraduates.

Premed Personal Statement Workshop
The Premedical Office will conduct a workshop on personal statement writing for premeds Tuesday, Oct. 09, at 5:00 p.m. in NCF 102. Whether you are revising your first or seventh version of your personal statement, you are encouraged to attend the workshop to gain more insight on how to construct your best personal statement. All premeds are encouraged to attend, particularly sophomores who are interested in early acceptance programs and juniors who will be applying for entry in 2020.

Senior Premed Assessment Meetings
Students who are currently applying to medical, dental, etc. school for entry in 2019 should sign-up for and complete the One-on-One Senior Premed Assessment Meeting in the Premedical Office. The sign-up list and required meeting documents are available in the Premedical Office (NCF 108) near the reception desk; detailed instructions have been sent via email. Academic progress, health professions school application status, post-baccalaureate plans, etc. will be discussed during this assessment. Freshman Premed Meeting #8
Freshman Premed Biomedical Honor Corps Meeting #8 will be held Monday, Oct. 08, at 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. (attend either session) in NCF 105. Please bring a pen with you to the meeting. All new freshman and transfer premeds are encouraged to attend the group and individual meetings planned for them during the 2018-2019 academic year. The meeting schedule for fall 2018 is available HERE. If you are unable to attend any premed meetings, please stop by the Premedical Office (NCF 108) to make them up.

What is the eBulletin? How do I get my news included?
The weekly eBulletin has been designated by the University Administration as THE official vehicle for communicating non-urgent announcements and info to XU faculty, staff, and students. It is emailed each Monday morning (excepting Holidays), covering the events for the upcoming week and beyond.

If you have an announcement or info about a campus event that you wish to submit for inclusion, please send it to or If your submission includes a flyer, it should be in pdf or jpg format. Please note that requests for blast emails about individual events cannot be honored.

The deadline for all submissions is 10:00 a.m. the Thursday before publication (see future schedules below); however, you are encouraged to send in your announcements as early as possible.
